FAAC and VEM sistemi together to create a Digital Workplace
designed to increase productivity and competitiveness
FAAC has chosen VEM sistemi as a partner in a transformation journey to improve collaboration and information sharing among its employees, centered around the Cisco Webex solution.
VEM sistemi announces that FAAC, a multinational company based in Bologna specializing in automation for residential, condominium, and industrial settings, as well as pedestrian and vehicle access control, has entrusted it with implementing new digital technologies to enhance employee collaboration. The goal is to build a digital workplace capable of breaking down communication barriers and making information available anytime, anywhere.
The Company
In 1965, Giuseppe Manini, then a construction entrepreneur, noticed that gates in residential buildings were often left open. Drivers had to get out of their cars to open them but rarely went back to close them.
In true inventor fashion, Manini handcrafted small masterpieces of hydraulic technology, giving rise to FAAC’s first flagship product: the 750 in-ground, the first automated gate system. Since then, FAAC has never stopped growing. For over 50 years, the company has continued to expand — first across Europe, then globally — diversifying its product portfolio beyond the traditional gate automation market.
The Scenario
FAAC’s significant growth, strong international presence, and globally distributed R&D centers led the company to seek technologies capable of securely and reliably connecting people, information, and devices remotely, at any time and from anywhere.
This need is especially relevant for a group with 34 branches across 5 continents, 2,700 employees worldwide, over 80 official distributors, and 17 production sites. The investment decision also came with an awareness of the deep change management required by adopting global communication and collaboration solutions.
This is where VEM sistemi consultants stepped in to support Luca Bauckneht, Group HR Director at FAAC, and Enrico Minelle, Group CIO at FAAC, in choosing the best collaboration solution to achieve their goals.
The VEM expert team identified Cisco Webex Teams as the most effective technology to meet FAAC’s needs and supported the multinational in deploying and promoting a culture of digital meetings across the Group’s global workforce.
Solution
Cisco Webex brings three business communication tools to the cloud: meetings, messaging, and calling. With the Webex Teams application, teamwork is accelerated. Every project can be easily managed collaboratively by multiple people from anywhere in the world, including individuals from companies outside of FAAC. Teamwork becomes a continuous workstream made up of messages, virtual meetings, documents, notes, and recordings.
In addition to the cloud and the app for laptops, tablets, and smartphones, Webex devices also play a fundamental role. They ensure high-quality and reliable collaboration, even in meeting rooms of any size. Many FAAC managers have adopted Webex devices in their offices.
Webex is a globally recognized solution that effectively meets FAAC’s need to securely connect employees across five continents.
Benefits
By adopting this technology, FAAC has succeeded in developing a secure work environment that boosts productivity and strengthens the company’s competitive edge.
The creation of this new digital workplace also required a profound shift in employee habits. This change necessitated an educational effort focused on teaching how to use the new technology and spreading awareness of the proper netiquette for digital meetings.
This effort was supported on two fronts:
On one side, the professionals at VEM Sistemi, who created a series of short animated videos featuring FAAC employees as protagonists.
On the other, FAAC itself, which actively promoted the transformation by engaging top management, forming a change management team, and setting up a group of evangelists to offer training and support to colleagues.
For a digital meeting to be truly effective, it’s essential that both the organiser and participants follow some basic common-sense rules before, during, and after the meeting. These guidelines help to fully harness the potential of new technologies and truly maximise the effectiveness of digital meetings.
